Unlike the Aerus Classic, the Legacy includes a more modern power nozzle with a swivel neck and bright headlight, making it easier to clean around furniture, under beds, along baseboards, and across a variety of carpet types. It is a fantastic choice for customers who love the durability and simplicity of traditional Aerus/Electrolux canisters, but want a more updated cleaning experience. Originally introduced in 1985, the iconic Electrolux L-Shaped Powerhead helped usher Electrolux into a new era of cleaning performance and durability. Commonly nicknamed the “PN-5,” this 15” powerhead was designed to deliver deeper, more effective carpet cleaning while remaining exceptionally maneuverable around furniture and obstacles. Its unique L-shaped design makes it easy to clean under the front edge of sofas, around furniture legs, and into tighter spaces without constantly moving furniture. The flat-to-the-floor profile also allows it to reach under low-clearance furniture with ease, while the wide 15” cleaning path helps you cover large rooms quickly.
While the Aerus Classic still uses the traditional fixed-neck PN-5 design that longtime Electrolux owners know and love, the Aerus Legacy Deluxe takes the concept a major step further with its upgraded swivel-neck power nozzle. The swivel neck allows the powerhead to pivot naturally as you clean, making it dramatically easier to maneuver around chair legs, coffee tables, corners, and tight spaces. Instead of steering the entire wand and canister assembly to change direction, the nozzle itself turns with you for smoother, more controlled handling.
The Legacy power nozzle also features a bright integrated headlight that illuminates the carpet directly in front of the nozzle. This makes it easier to spot fine dust, pet hair, and debris hidden in carpeting or along baseboards and under furniture. Combined with the low-profile L-shaped design, the Legacy power nozzle delivers a noticeably more modern cleaning experience while still maintaining the durability, deep-cleaning performance, and flat-to-the-floor capability that made the original Electrolux PN-5 famous.
Spring-loaded rear wheels automatically adjust to varying carpet heights, allowing the powerhead to glide smoothly across different surfaces without manual adjustments. For added protection and convenience, the built-in automatic circuit breaker will temporarily shut the powerhead down if it picks up an obstruction like the edge of an area rug or a sock—helping protect the motor and belt while saving you an unnecessary trip to the repair shop.

The large-capacity disposable bag is easy to install and remove, while the self-sealing opening automatically closes when the bag is removed from the vacuum. This helps prevent dust and debris from escaping back into the air during bag changes, making maintenance dramatically cleaner and more convenient than bagless vacuums or older dump-out designs.
In 2024, Aerus upgraded the traditional Style C bags with a modern random-spun synthetic filtration material that filters to HEPA standards while also improving airflow and overall cleaning performance. Unlike older paper-style bags, the upgraded synthetic material maintains stronger airflow as the bag fills while trapping significantly finer dust, allergens, and debris. This advanced filtration also keeps the motor compartment cleaner by preventing fine dust from circulating through the motor, which helps promote longer motor life and improved long-term durability.
After the motor, the Aerus Legacy uses a high-efficiency electrostatic exhaust filter to capture additional fine particles before the air is returned back into the room.
